چکیده
Backgroundand methodology: The presented retrospective study is a report of 17 children (18 limbs) with post infective physeal bars around the knee. Minimum 2 years follow up sepsis was available.ObservationsThe mean infection 6.9 years. bar formation manifested 22.6 months sepsis. angular deformity progressed at monthly rate 0.84, 0.1, 0.26° for peripheral, central and extensive respectively. Peripheral underwent early intervention. Balancing growth using contralateral ‘8’ plate useful partial bars. For older patients, complete epiphyseodesis limb length equalization used. Articular abnormalities (cupping, flattening, small epiphysis) were associated in 80% Neonatal infections often multifocal had articular abnormalities.ConclusionsThe 3 types different characteristics. produced most deformities required large number patients especially those neonatal infections. Overall unhealthy physis beside bar, delayed manifestations, discrepancy should be accounted while planning treatment.

Coronal plane stability before and after total knee arthroplasty.
The success of total knee arthroplasty depends in part on proper soft tissue management to achieve a stable joint. It is unknown to what degree total knee arthroplasty changes joint stability. We used a surgical navigation system to intraoperatively measure joint stability in 24 patients under going primary total knee arthroplasty to address two questions: (1) Is the total arc of varus-valgus m...
متن کاملThe Immediate Post-Operative Radiograph is an Unreliable Measure of Coronal Plane Alignment in Total Knee Replacement
BACKGROUND Restoration of a neutral mechanical axis is a primary goal of total knee replacement (TKR). A mechanical axis within 3° of neutral has been correlated with improved implant longevity, function, and patient satisfaction. We hypothesize that the immediate post-operative radiograph is an unreliable method of measuring alignment following TKR surgery. METHODS Seventy-five consecutive p...
متن کاملRuptured Intracranial Mycotic Aneurysm in Infective Endocarditis: A Natural History
Mycotic aneurysms are a rare cause of intracranial aneurysms that develop in the presence of infections such as infective endocarditis. They account for a small percentage of all intracranial aneurysms and carry a high-mortality rate when ruptured. The authors report a case of a 54-year-old man who presented with infective endocarditis of the mitral valve and acute stroke. He subsequently devel...
متن کاملComparative study between staples and eight plate in the management of coronal plane deformities of the knee in skeletally immature children
PURPOSE To compare two commonly used methods of temporary hemiepiphysiodesis (staples and figure of eight plate) in the management of coronal plane deformities of the knee in skeletally immature children. METHODS This prospective study was conducted between November 2012 and November 2015. A total of 40 patients with 67 affected knee joints, having at least 1 year of skeletal growth remaining...
متن کاملResection of a physeal bar under computer-assisted guidance.
Excision of a physeal bar and filling the space with interposition material may allow resumption of normal growth. Both the extent and the location of the bar and the amount of growth remaining from physis must be determined. Computer-assisted surgery is being used increasingly in various fields of orthopaedics. We describe the management of a patient with premature physeal arrest of the right ...
